At the biggest conservative convention in America, AmericaFest2023, Charlie Kirk, the founder and President of Turning Point USA addressed the crowd.  He stated that in 2024 he plans to work harder than he ever has in his entire life.  He challenged all 13,000 people at the event from all 50 states to do the same.  

You cannot ignore what is going on any longer.  America is at a “Turning Point,” and we all need to fight like hell to ensure that a more conservative presence, more conservative policies and more conservative personnel are going to make a difference in 2024.  We are the last hope to save our country and we need more patriots, more concerned taxpayers, more parents to engage before it is too late.  

We are trying to warn you that our country is already headed for a destructive and brutal crash.  You just have to take a moment to listen.  But that’s just the first step.

I am so thankful to have been able to attend this important event and I understand that not everyone has the time, financial means, or ability to go.  Maybe people don’t want to be called names when they return to their community.  Maybe they can’t go because of fear of retaliation, or job loss.  But you should try and find a way.  For full transparency, I was provided a press pass for the event.  But, I have no financial interest with Turning Point and besides building relationships with some amazing people, I have no direct ties to the organization.  

It’s interesting the reactions I get when talking about Charlie Kirk.  He’s a man who I’ve not yet had the opportunity to meet, but whose passion for change and public love of God can turn some people off.  They either love him or hate him and often people share that same sentiment about me.  

Now, I can tell you I was very conflicted with the challenge, this gauntlet thrown at the attendees from Charlie Kirk.  At first I looked toward the sky and thought God, is there any way that I can work harder than I have been for the last three and a half years in this battle to expose the horrors of our public K-12 educational system?  

The real question may be, can my family survive this next year with me unemployed, volunteering my time to take this all on as a calling?  Will my wife murder me in my sleep, as every few weeks she asks, “When are you going to get a real job?”     

I think I’ve found my “job.”  My job is to stand up for students, parents, taxpayers and teachers who have not yet found their voice.  My job is to stand up in the face of the progressively far-left political insanity that we are dealing with in our once great country.  My job is to stand up, identify and call out the evils in the system.  I’ve never been busier, never been less of a provider, but never been richer spiritually than I am today knowing I’ve helped many people.  

So many attendees that I interviewed on the convention floor said they were there to learn more about how to stand up and they all had plans on doing so, if they had not done so already.  More on that in an upcoming Maine Source Of Truth podcast.  

Although I felt a strong sense of patriotism and positive intent from the event, I can’t seem to crack the code to get more people to take action.  Is it that they are unaware?  Is it that they don’t think that something horrible will happen to their children?  Is it that Americans still can’t see the divisive, Marxist tactics that are constantly barraging them, making their situation worse each day?  Or, is it that they are unable to grasp the biblical evils we are seeing play out?  

Turning Point USA understands that it’s all of the above and then some and based on my three and a half years in this space, they are easily the largest and most influential group around.  They offer not only insight and exposure, but testimony, brave speakers, amazing learning opportunities and a plan.  The plan is not “just events,” but it is to ensure our next generation of Americans, regardless of sex, color, race, sexual preference, religion, or political party, all have a chance to enjoy America like my generation has.  

Turning Point USA is not just an organization folks, it’s a movement.

The Generation Z “kids” that I saw at this past weekend's event were engaged, composed, mature and wise beyond their years.  It was very impressive and their parents should be very proud.  TPUSA’s plans are working, especially with young men in high school who have never trended more conservative than today.  It’s this next generation of men who will have to save the country their fathers have lost.

Turning Point USA wants to place chapters of young men and women in local schools to counter the division of the Civil Rights Teams, the insanity of the Gay Sexuality Alliances, the after school satan clubs, the “Marxist” ways of the librarians and the 99.97% Democrat supporting teachers union members.  But in Maine, only a few Turning Point USA chapters exist and one is in a Waterville homeschool group.  An effort a year or so ago to place one in Hampden Academy, in Hampden, ME was met with pushback from the far-left school administrators.

So why can’t we get traction with parents and taxpayers of the kids who need conservative direction?  I’m beginning to believe that it simply has been too easy for my generation, Generation X.  We never fought a war like our fathers had to.  But the war is here, inside our own country.  Although the 70’s and 80’s were challenging, recent times have provided many of our generation vast amounts of financial security and we are insulated inside our homes.   

It hasn’t yet become bad enough for more of my generation to get involved.  Gen X’ers are currently failing to recognize the vast problems.  The few of us who are, are left wondering when the coach will pull us out of the game for a bit to rest on the bench.  A chance to catch our breath…

The game is 28-3, in the middle of the third quarter and most Americans are still in the locker room asking themselves what color cleats they will put on.  

My heart was filled with hope attending the AmericaFest2023 conference, but my emotions run high because I don’t know how much longer I can battle.  Three and a half years in this space are like 27 in dog years.  But what I feel in my soul is that my job has been to try with everything I have to make it a better place for my kids to live than when I did.  But does that mean at a sacrifice for my family, while 97% of my town, state and country appear to be willing to do nothing?  We need more players on team.

Right now we are at a “Turning Point,” in our United States.  As a side note, staring at their logo while seated near the stage I noticed the point turns to the right…that’s gotta be by design, good job marketing team!  But, Charlie Kirk’s organization is not a “far-right” group.  It’s a Christian conservative group that believes in masculinity, foundational family values and that America is worth saving.  We are living through a cultural and spiritual revolution where our country is being destroyed.  

The division is ultimately about good and evil.  When will The People do everything they possibly can to fight against this?  Fight for their country?  Fight for their children, their grandchildren?  It’s time…It’s time to take the fight to them.  

So, when do you get in the game?  After the final whistle is blown?  At that point it is too late.  Remember, your kids are also playing this game and if you won’t step up for them and play to win, to play with action…they lose.
